As the plane touched down in Melbourne, it hit me again.
Like a tonne of bricks.
I was actually doing this.
And I was ALONE!
My body walked itself off the plane, hitting the brisk air as I stepped of the platform and into Melbourne Airport. In a daze, I followed the herd of people to collect my luggage.
While waiting, I sent a text to Gemma. I knew she was going to be my guide for the weekend, but I was unaware at this stage of how much of an awesome, loyal and gorgeous friend she would become.
I was so nervous. Even though I had been chatting with these girls forever, I had never met them face-to-face. What if they didn't like me? What if we didn't click (like we did online). My fears were real, but totally unwarranted.
After meeting up with Gemma from My Big Nutshell, Daisy from Daisy, Roo & Two, Jess from Diary of a SAHM, Fiona from My Mummy Daze and Maria from Mums Word, we jump into the airport shuttle and made our way through the busy city to our hotel.
We jammed a lot into that ride. Birth stories, blogger stories, life stories, back to birth stories - well there was 20 birth stores between us!
After dropping our bags into our room, we decided to walk our way to find a bottle-o.
We have them.
We walked the 20 minute walk to Chapel Street. I soaked it all up. The architecture, the trams, the sights, the sounds.
I wasn't in Kansas anymore.
And I didn't have Five Little
|The Red or the Blue? Which would you choose?|
We reached Chapel Street and went left to find a place to eat lunch.
I could have seriously spent all week in this street. The cafe's, the vintage shops, the antique stores.
|Typical view of a Bloggers lunch!|
After buying out the bottle-o, we decided to catch a Tram back to the hotel.
You know... when in Rome and all that.
You could tell we were from out of town.
I quietly giggled as we tried to figure out how to pay for our ride.
I was in my element. Snapping photos. No kids harassing me. Taking in every single moment.
Risking being arrested for a great shot.
Running ahead like a clown to turn back and snap my friends.
We made our way back to the hotel to freshen up before dinner and a planned "Pre-Conference Drinks" do that Laney from Crash Test Mummy had organised. Thanks so much to The Melbourne Wine Room for having us and Alta Vineyards for supplying the drinks!
St Kilda is a gorgeous place to be. As I sat at the table waiting for other girls to arrive, I turned around to look at the sunset. Something the Five Little Reasons and I do a lot. We count the colours in the sky. I was amazed at the colours that night. I have never seen a sunset so deep. So orange.
I was having so. much. fun. Even though I had never met any of these girls before, we knew each other so very well. I mean, we read each others blog, but it was deeper than that.
So many different girls in one room.
All with different backgrounds. Different lives. Different stories.
And it was good.
